About Nantucket Cycling and Fitness:
We opened our doors in 2011 as the first boutique cycling studio on Nantucket. We had a tiny little space and 11 bikes and 1 instructor. Over the next year we added our fitness studio and in the years that followed we built up an amazing team of instructors and a large variety of fitness options. Our most recent addition is a Video On-Demand membership option where you can workout with us from home or anywhere around the world. Who we are as a business is what truly sets us apart....we have the most amazing clients and instructors that together have create what all of our members know as the Nantucket Cycling and Fitness Community.
Our philosophy as a team is that our group fitness programming should be about working out for a better quality of life, having fun while you workout and also creating an amazing sense of community within our business that is a blend of our year round clients, our summer clients and our vacation visiting clients. We strive to be your favorite home gym and your favorite home-away-from-home gym.

How long have you lived on Nantucket? I have lived on Nantucket for 17 years.
What do you like to do when you are not teaching? When I am not teaching I love spending time with my family and friends. I also love running and going to the beach.
What is your fitness philosophy? My fitness philosophy is to train to feel good in HOW your body moves. I have 4 active kids and they are my fitness motivation. I work out to be strong enough and to have enough endurance to keep up with whatever adventure they want to go on, whether its the ski slopes, mountain biking, knee boarding or just jumping on the trampoline. I want to show them that moms don’t have to just sit on the sidelines and watch…..we can keep up and even kick their butts every once in a while! My hope as an instructor is to encourage clients to celebrate the gift of movement rather than the pursuit of the perfect body.
What is one fun fact about you? Once fun fact about me is that I have an Irish accent when I speak with my parents and siblings. I was born in Ireland and moved to America when I was 9. What is your fitness philosophy? I'm a big advocate of doing what's best for your body. Everybody's body is different, but all I ask during my classes is to keep your body moving. I tell all my classes that I don't care what they do or how they do it, so long as it feels good in their body and they use their time to the fullest by moving, then that's a win for both of us. The hardest part of going to the gym is getting there in the first place; starting up can be hard. But once you show up, I hope they can gain confidence in every rep they do/every minute they're there. Try to impress yourself with the work you put in.
